Went bushwalking on Mount Wellington yesterday (From the Springs to Smiths Monument via icehouse track then back up to the top of Mount Wellington [top car park] Via Pinnacle track) to check out if the waratahs (Telopia Truncata) were flowering yet. I saw some specimens at a Rhododendron show last weekend so I panicked thinking they were out in full bloom and so I went up to make sure I wasn't missing out!!!
Anyway, the good news is that I hadnt missed them but a few are budding and a few are just about to burst out. So if you're interested they are up there everywhere. in a couple of weeks you will r
eally notice them and you dont hav
e to go for a 5 hour bushwalk to find them! There are a few actually on the side of the road you drive up to the top, mostly on the top half of the Mountain so you can still see them on a leisurely drive and still see them in their splendour ;)
